MARS 2005

 

MARS on 20 June 2005.

First Mars image for the 2005 season. Celestron 11 + Baader FFC + Philips ToUcam Pro webcam.

The image was obtained using a red filter around 02:25 UT with a modified ToUcam Pro II. 3600 image B&W AVI file , of which 1000 images were used to stack the final image. Color information was obtained from a 1800 image ToUcam Pro I color AVI file of wich 300 images were used. Software used was Registax and Photoshop.

 


30 June 2005, seeing was very bad, I took three 120 s avi films (5400 images) and used RegiStax to combine 500 images. Also used a Baader UV-IR rejection filter + W25 red filter to reduce seeing effects.

 


Morning of 17 July 2005, seeing 6-7/10, Celestron 11 @ f/37, one image with B&W ToUcam + IR Pass filter, one image with color ToUcam for IR-RGB image. Only two avi series were made, one 2 m in B&W, one 2 m in color at 10 fps.


Morning of 30 July 2005, seeing 5-6/10, Transparency 8, Celestron 11 @ f/35, DMK 021BF04 Firewire camera, Baader IR-Pass filter + Astronomik Type II RGB filters in SBIG CFW8.


Morning of 9 August 2005, transparency 8/10, seeing 6/10, twilight conditions. Celestron 11 @ f/35, DMK 021BF04 Firewire camera, SBIG CFW8 with Baader IR-Pass filter + Astronomik Type II RGB filters + Baader UV/IR blocking filter.


Morning of 16 August 2005. Transparency 8/10, seeing 6/10, radiation fog forming. Celestron 11 @ f/35 and @ f/45 with Baader FFC barlow, DMK 021BF04 Firewire camera, SBIG CFW8 with Baader IR-Pass filter + Astronomik Type II RGB filters + Baader UV/IR blocking filter.


Mars on 26 August 2005. Good transparency between drifting cloud but seeing only 1 to 3/10 Pickering. C-11 at f/30 with Infrared Pass filter and DMK 021BF04 camera.


Mars on 18 September 2005: Transparancy 8 to 9/10, Seeing average5 to 6.


Mars on 20 September 2005: Transparancy 8 to 9/10, Seeing average5 to 6.


Mars on 22 September 2005: Transparancy 5 to 6/10 (fog), Seeing 7/10.

Tranparency variable due to drifting cirrus cloud, seeing 5-7/10. Philips ToUcam Pro and Celestron 11 @ f/35 (DMK camera tempo out of order).


27 October 2005.

Transparency rather bad and variable due to cirrus clous, seeing 6/10 about. C-11 and DMK 21BF04.
