Vixen GP Photoguider

This is a Vixen Super/Great Polaris based mount. Instead of the declination assembly, a plate is used where one can mount one or two camera's using a tripod head or ball head. A small counterweight can be added to counterbalance one camera. It comes with a polar scope in the RA axis to adjust the mount with the necessary precision. It is capable of tracking with a 200 mm FL objective with good results using the supplied motor, battery pack and electronic SD-1 controller. The mounting plate for the cameras can be substituted by a Super Polaris or Great Polaris declination assembly. Adding an MT-1 motor to the declination axis and a DD-1 controller makes this a small transportable equatorial mount. However, as shown in the photo below it weighs allready about 5 kg. Add to this the camera(s), controller and battery 10 kg weight is rapidly reached. The mount came with a canvas carry bag that can hold the mount as shown in the picture. You can see on the photo that I added the caution "No hand hold!!!" on the tripod legs. If you would try to carry the mount by placing your hand on one of the legs upper part, there is a good chance you will hurt yourself when the tripod legs squeeze your hand between them and the mount due to the relative heavy weight of the mount head!
