Abell 2218 Abell 2218 consists of a foreground galaxy cluster located nearly 2 billion light years away (z=.17), which is gravitationally lensing a far more distant galaxy group that is approx 7 billion light years away (z=.7), depending on cosmological model and distance-term (Dt, Dn or Dl - see recent S&T article). This image is not sharpened or anything beyond basic processing of 6 30 min exp. The FWHM is 1.7 arcsec. The image captures more than 3 of the gravity-lensed arcs (faintly tinted for easier identification). RCOS 12.5 inch Ritchey-Chretien at F/9 Return
