This comet is discovered a comet in the course of the "All-Sky Automated Survey for Supernovae" (ASASSN) program, from images taken with the 14-cm "Cassius" survey telescope at Cerro Tololo on July 19.  I and F._J. Hambsch did observation from SIDING SPRING and ROAD observatory on 23 and 24 july.  Our own confirmation are also mentioned in the MPEC 2017-O45 : COMET C/2017 O1 .  On 24 july CBET 4414 : 20170724 : COMET C/2017 O1 was issued and assigned this object as comet C/2017 O1, strange… without any further extinction.
