Comet 245P/WISE  -  ( = 2002 Q16 = P/2010 L1)

A comet was discovered in images from the the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) satellite on June 2.50. The comet showed a coma and tail, and was around magnitude 20 when confirmed with ground based images. Richard Miles made confirming observations with the Faulkes Telescope North. The comet was at perihelion at 2.1 AU in February and has a period of 8.1 years.

Rob Matson has identified the comet on NEAT images from Palomar taken in August and September 2002, which have been given the identity 2002 Q16.
