Discovery:

Discovered on CCD images obtained in the course of the "La Sagra Sky Survey" with a 45-cm f/2.8 reflector located at "La Sagra" mountain in Spain on 2012 Sept. 23; the object was then described by J. Nomen (who reported the discovery on behalf of a larger group) as showing a small east-west elongation to a dense coma of size 4-6 arcsec. The discovery was announced by the International Astronomical Union's Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams on CBET 3239.

Recovery: MPEC 2021-N47

This comet has been detected in incidental astrometry taken at Pan-STARRS 1 (F51) on June 6 UT.  It was later independently detected from ATLAS_MLO (T08), iTelescope Observatory, Siding Spring (Q62) by H. Sato who reports a 6" coma on 12-stacked, 60-second exposures; as well as from Campo dos Amarais Observatory (X74).
