Discovery:

N. Kojima (Ishiki, Aichi, Japan) discovered this comet on a photographplate that had been exposed with the 0.31-m reflector as part of a search for the lost periodic comet Neujmin 2 on 1970 December 27.79. He confirmed his discovery on dec. 29.84. On both occasions, Kojima estimated the magnitude as 14, and described the comet as diffuse, with a condensation. B.G. Marsden calculated the elliptical orbit and was published on febr. 3 1971 and determinded the perihelion date  as 1970 oct. 6.66 and a period of 6.09 years.
