Disvocery (CBET 4822:  COMET C/2020 O2)

Leonardo S. Amaral, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, reports his discovery of a comet on three 60-s CCD exposures taken on 2020 July 23 with a 0.3-m f/4 reflector with magnitude about 18.1, noting the object to have a diffuse coma of diameter 13".  After the comet was posted on the Minor Planet Center's PCCP webpage, H.

Sato,

Tokyo, Japan, found a strongly condensed round coma 8" in diameter and no tail on nine stacked 60-s exposures taken remotely on July 30.4 UT with a 0.51-m f/6.8 astrograph at Siding Spring, NSW; the magnitude was 17.9 as measured within a circular aperture of radius 4".9.  E. Guido, Castellammare di Stabia, Italy, writes that sixteen stacked 90-s unfiltered exposures taken by a large group of observers remotely using a "Telescope Live" 0.6-m f/6.5 astrograph at El Sauce, Chile, on July 27.05 show a diffuse coma about 8" in diameter of mag 17.8-18.0.

The available astrometry appears on MPEC 2020-P10.
