Comet C/2023 Y3 (ATLAS) (astro.vanbuitenen.nl)

Discovery:  [ CBET 5338:  COMET P/2023 Y3 = P/2017 BQ_100 (ATLAS) ]

     L. Denneau and A. Fitzsimmons report the discovery of a comet in survey images taken on Dec. 18 UT by ATLAS South Africa (M22), noting a condensed 13" coma and a straight 8" tail at position angle 310 deg. Prediscovery positions were reported on Dec. 13 UT.  R. Weryk subsequently identified this comet with minor planet 2017 BQ100.
